I am a Korean who is not good at English. Please understand.
I would like to seek expert advice here.
My 997 mk1 CS2 6MT transmission car, which I had been riding well for over 10 years, had an accident recently and the transmission was broken(crack).
During self-repair, I droped the transmission and thought about it, and I need to test whether the engine is operating normally, but the engine does not start.
In my opinion, the engine can start even without a transmission. Is there something I am not thinking about?
It seems that we can decide whether to repair the transmission only after confirming that the engine is normal.

That is a good question ....An engine in general will start without the transmission connected - You should have checked this before removing the transmission. My guess is you have a no start issue relating to something else and the accident.
Do you have power ? What happens when you try to start the engine ?
