I embedded the video for you. I know that closed deck conversion is very popular in Subaru community. But it is rarely brought up in Porsche community. I'm sure Jake from FSI can comment on this. FYI, even his top of the line R series engines are still open deck judging from the photos.

All I know is what I see on the internetand this was something, not being a mechanic, I was clueless about. This made sense to me...

I know there is one very well known re-builder that does this exact process on 996/997 engines.
