Ignition switch help
As previously posted, I am having trouble removing key from ignition switch. Ordered new one from Pelican Parts, same issue. Ordered replacement as defective from PP and installed, same issue. The only way to remove key is with paper clip in hole in ignition switch.
ANY other ideas on why this is happening. I have had the car for 4 years without issue. I have replaced car battery and battery in both fobs.............at my wit's end..............

Not clear – are you replacing the key each time or the ignition switch? It’s definitely an ignition switch problem, and a replacement switch should fix it. But if you have been replacing the ignition switch and still having trouble, then that might pointer the key.
Thanks for the reply. From researching the issue, it was said that the key did not have to be replaced with the switch. The car still will start up and turn off with the original key, just not come out of the switch..........Any way you know to test the key?
Not sure if this will help you, but if you look at the thread below, it says something about a different hole to press into to reset it. Look towards the end of the thread:

I disassembled my ignition switch when I replaced mine and the only 'button' to be found in the barrel mechanism is the mechanical release for the key - that thread about a 'second button' is inconclusive (as there's not one!). The key itself is fine - if the car starts, then the 'pill' transponder is doing it's thing and all is well. The key itself (the metal shaft) is cut to simply open the doors, there is no keyed path in the ignition switch, it will take any 997 Porsche key. If the transponder matches the car, the key is permitted to turn and try to start.
OP, I think you will have to dive a level deeper to diagnose IMO - either the ignition switch is not getting a signal from the column lock or one of the Porsche modules is starting to play up. Have you gotten access to a Durametric or Foxpro tool to see if any code is logged? Have you tried turning the steering wheel until the solenoid 'locks', then try removing the key? (that's even if you can lock the steering without key removal).

Check just to make sure you have the updated version of the ignition module, made in SPAIN, not Australia, in the rare case you simply have another bad NOS OEM switch. It does have an updated number that I can't recall right now, but it has "Made in Spain" in the lower RHS corner.
If it's the Spanish version, then all I could suggest before module replacement is ensure all connectors are clean and seated fully. I think it's odd that it happened for no reason, as my ignition switch failed as a direct result of having to use the emergency frunk opening method.
I have no idea which module would be responsible but it's gonna be a primary component if ignition/security related.

Yes, replacing the module fixed the no-release key issue in my case. In your case, if you are sure all connections are good, it points to some other module not functioning as expected - and I have no idea where to begin in this scenario.
