Default Key Stuck in Ignition

I have searched the forum and none of the situations apply. My key gets stuck in the ignition on occaision, sometimes comes right out. Battery for the car is fine and replaced key battery. Happens on both keys. Any suggestions ?

Ignition switch. Pretty common issue with 997.

There is a little tab on the ring surrounding where the key goes in - pop it off to reveal a little hole. Stick a paper clip in it and release the key. The owner's manual shows you what to do with this. The key will lock in there if inserted when the battery is dead, for instance. Very easy to get it out.

EDIT: reading closer your post, yes, it looks like a new ignition switch is in your future. A DIY job. Just read through the thread posted above.
