Default Alignment

Getting BC Coilovers installed. Should I wait to get alignment. Reason I am asking is do Coilovers “settle” like springs will settle?

That's a great question - one I hadn't asked of Ohlins.

I switched over to Ohlins R&T coilovers. Despite replacing a few other suspension parts, I had taken measurements to be sure of the rough alignment so that I could drive the vehicle to my indy shop (about 15 miles away on secondary streets) for installation review, some final torquing of fasteners, corner balance and alignment.

No issues so far but is the alignment a "ticking time bomb" (a bit of an exaggeration, of course)?

All suspension will settle a little. The difference with with coil overs is you can adjust it back to the same ride height that you had when the alignment was done. So you can do the alignment now if you want.

With that said, waiting 100 miles or so is preferred. Its a good idea to re-torque the suspension to spec after 100 miles anyway so you can do both at the same time.

My shop has recommended 100 miles when getting other suspension components installed. I ended up waiting around 250 miles just due to needing to drive the car. I think putting some miles on prior to the alignment is a good idea.

When lowered you must go with 997 GT3 alignment as done by my race experienced alignment shop.
