Default That Clicking Noise!

Hello, everyone,

there’s that pollution control device, I think of it as an egr valve, has a solenoid that, when opening and closing, at idle, makes a clicking noise that is sometimes so loud it sounds as if the engine is about to detonate; my questions are:
what is it called,
will replacing it reduce the noise it makes,
how hard is it to replace &
how costly is it?

Any and all information appreciated!

Thank you,

John

The m97.01 actually didn’t have an egr valve. It’s a positive pressure one way valve from the sai pump.

it would be very helpful if u posted a video of said sound. And info around the car.

I heard a one-click noise whenever I am around 2700 rpm with light throttle changing to medium throttle input. I haven't figure out what it is yet but it sounded like a solenoid opening or closing

I read a thread and saw a videoclip of this issue a few years ago, but, can’t find it. It is to do with an emissions control device, I believe, described as a solenoid opening and closing. I don’t remember what it’s called, obviously, my reason for posting and occurs primarily at idle, when the system loads up. Rev the engine and it goes away, briefly. It is not bore scoring or a tappet issue.
