Hey gang, does anyone in the northern part of New Jersey know of a muffler shop that can be trusted to do a good job on a gundo hack?
I'm inching ever closer to linking my pipes, but don't really think going the full Fister route is worth the time and expense versus finding a local place that can just do it on site, as long as they do it right.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated (except by my wife if she actually ever figures out I had it done).
There's a muffler guy down by Trenton who did mine (about $350) a few years ago, but you'll waste half a day getting there, waiting and back. On the other hand you can have fun opening it up on the Turnpike, rallying with others of like mind/car and have some intermittent fun, but watch the Staties,
Come on down, I live in Trenton and have a super loud 997.2 4s I can show you while you wait. iPE valved exhaust with a sharkwerks bypass. Combined with a 4.0L it's quite unique sounding.
I used Crums Custom Welding in Bloomingdale. The owner was a good guy.
However, I removed the cans and brought them to the shop.
This had to be back in 2014 and this was the first time he did a gundo hack, but he was a real pro.
I showed him some photos, specified the type of pipe to us ( I believe I went with 1 3/4" 301L Stainless) and he
did a super clean job.

Mufflex Muffler Center , IIRC
Thanks Sporty. I had Trenton in my head, and I'm guessing it's because you shared this info in the past. I'm hoping to find something closer, but it's great to have the name of a shop with some experience doing gundos.
any basically competent muffler shop should be able to do this, and for not much more than $250 or so, irrelevant of geography. $350 is probably on the high end.
