I can't say that the fix is the same but when my Bose amp started the dreaded woofer only operation at start up I refreshed the thermal compound on the transistor and ICs as well as replaced the 8 2200uF@25VDC caps (cheap at Jameco). This is pretty easy to do excluding the desoldering hassles posed by the multi layer PCB. Might be worth a try before replacing the amp.
