Default FunctionFirst Porsche 997 Engine Mount Quick Review

I've been wanting to do this review for a while now but time has not been on my side.
Nevertheless it is probably even more relevant now that I've had the mounts installed for almost 5 months, and have done multiple runs on the very twisty North Georgia mountains over that time, in addition to my other favorite routes as well.

Thoroughly impressed with the product and would repeat again in a heartbeat.
Negligible NVH for me. I have to listen very deliberately to detect any at all.

I also have the FF Transmission mount installed - DIY & Review here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...r-997-2-a.html

These are on my to do list, thanks for posting.

My PDK car has a slight vibration in the passenger seat (which I understand is pretty normal), so good there was no additional NVH.

I am still on my OEM mount with 56K miles on the car, my passenger seat has vibration sometimes so I guess my engine mount are still good

@GTank glad it was helpful. It's one of those jobs that is both inexpensive and very easy to do with lot's of good DIY's available.
Occasionally some threads pop up where people don't seat the square collar correctly before torquing the nuts down - so that is important to pay attention to:

@lowbee As it is rubber, it could be one of those time or miles based wear/degradation (same with tires).
As a point of reference my 997.2 is an 09 with 78k miles when changed.

So that’s where you’re supposed to put the sticker 😆
I recently installed mine as well and share the same thoughts as @EMC2 👍

Same here. Installed the engine mounts and the orange transmission mount inserts and it worked out beautifully. My original mounts had 56K miles on them and were toast.

As for aligning the nut, with the FF you can only put them in one way and they are already aligned, which is a good thing because you're not going to be twisting those studs in the urethane.

Cheers,

stupid question... why not just spend $6 at your local hardware store for a tube of urethane and do it yourself?

And what exactly are you doing with Urethane? You lossed me.

From my research before deciding;

1) FF developed a proper process to inject and cure the urethane in such a way that the distribution is even (no air pockets).I also assume they've already done their homework on the best urethane to use and the curing process, and it's not an area I want to experiment with on my car. I give myself waaaayyyy tooo many projects already
@wndsnd If you look at the pic I posted above you can see the old mount has a void, that has been filled with Urethane in the new mount.

2) At $295 for the pair imho its a very small price (over the regular units) to pay to have it done right

3) I installed the FF Transmission mounts several years ago and found that upgrade to be extremely worthwhile, which is also what made me rank the FF mounts highly in my decision process.

Hope that helps

There was a post a couple months ago about this with instructions.

Youtuber (on here too) Car Fanatic did a few videos on engine mounts. Here is the one on filling oem mounts with poly.

One more voice in the choir:
I installed these FF engine mounts about a year ago in my 30k mile 997.2 C2s. They have been flawless. No extra NVH compared to stock, yet they quell the small degree of slop that can be felt with the stock mounts. In addition to street driving, I've done one trackday and AX with the FF mounts and noticed zero secondary motion from the engine's mass during those abrupt transitions (whereas I HAVE felt such effects with stock mounts, even low-mileage ones).

So, I'm a happy customer. (BTW: I also tried the rennline semisolid mounts and found their NVH increase unpleasant, so I swapped them out for these FF units). Good product.
