Default Engine Mount

Should I replace the engine mount on my 2005 911 with 18K miles with an aftermarket mount. And will it cause unwanted vibrations?

Why? You don't drive it.

I've just heard in time they wear out and a new aftermarket will give you better handling?

2009 C2S 167K miles

Time may wear them out but I doubt it... if it did, you would see leakage. They have to be pretty tough not only carrying the weight of the engine, but all the shift and leaps we crazy knuckleheads put on them. Given you don't drive the car, if there is no leakage, IMO, then there is no wear. Go drive it.

Peace

You wanna experience better handling? Drive it. It handles much better on the road than in the garage.

I love my 911, but it's turning into a money pit! I've spent almost $4000 in last 30 days. Fabspeed X-Pipe, Short Throw shifter , Led break & fog light. I may need to get a part time job at Walmart! 😆

No disrespect, man, but maybe you need a rule like 'must drive ten miles for each dollar spent on elective upgrades.'

Check your exhaust tips and see if they’re sagging.
I recommend Function First engine mounts. With the FF mounts, I experienced less vibrations than the original worn out OEM mounts. YMMV of course.

You love a 911 by driving it, not by buying stuff for it.

They are pretty tough but gravity is the main factor before any leaks would occur. If you suspect your mounts are bad, remove and inspect them as they are pretty straight forward to remove. A good indicator is your sagging exhaust tips. Going with aftermarket mounts will increase NVH but the tradeoff is a tighter connection between the engine and chassis.
