Front Brake Wear Sensor Question
Rennlist Member

It appears I get about 80K miles on the front rotors and pads. Time to replace the fronts.
Question: There are two Porsche part numbers for the front sensors that are "for my car" per the parts websites. However the price differences are large... These are Porsche parts. Why?
I ordered from Sunset Porsche and got a great deal... total rotors, pads, and sensors: $608 w/free shipping .... all genuine Porsche parts with Porsche labels. Sunset confirmed fitment via my VIN. However I had to order these two sensors that look EXACTLY the same to me:
997 612 757 01 $31.36
997 612 678 00 $49.16 Right side
The cheaper one does not denote the side... but the other does. Odd.... and of course, there is the price difference. Again, I have the parts in hand and they look exactly the same.. and in their Porsche bags.
Only negative to Sunset is I had to wait about 3-4 weeks to get them... no biggie at all. I figure I have at least 5K miles on the pads after a sensor pops. I will do the math and let you know what the estimate is comparing the old and new pad thicknesses and the mileage they popped.
