Default Overrev Report Opinion

For those of you more knowledgeable that I in what amount of overrevving these motors will take, would you folks be concerned with an overrev report that shows an engine that hit stage 4,5,6 for one ignition cycle almost 800 hrs ago in the life of the car. Looks like a fairly major missed shift .I am almost more concerned with the fact the the car has been hitting range 3 only 20hrs ago. This is a gen 1 997 2S

The range 4-6 ignitions are bad data. This looks fine to me. The number of ignitions has to increase through the ranges. For example if range 4 was 90, 5 was 35, and 6 was 18 that would be of concern. But single digits all within a couple of ignitions of each other in ranges 4-6 are impossible.

Agree with Jaws1 that 4-6 are glitches. For example, the range 4 equates to .005 seconds.

The latest 1-3 revs occurred less than 2 hours ago, not 20. Also given the low # of ignitions in Range 3, that may have been the first/only time that range was hit. Personally I'd want to see more time/mileage after hitting that range to confirm no issues as it only happened 1h36m ago, likely within the past 100 miles.

These 4’s, 5’s & 6’s are glitches and should be disregarded.

yes less than 2 hrs since the last stage 3 event so that is troubling . Glad to here the 456 incidents are likely erroneous data. Sounds like a test drive taken to extreme. According to the helpful article on 911virgin it looks like this car should be driven at least 50 hrs to confirm the level 3 event did not do damage . Would that be a reasonable interpretation.
thanks to all for the help on this

You beat me to it :-) That's the best report to read to understand these numbers. I would point out that with three ignition pulses per revolution of the crankshaft the 1's and 2's are generally considered to be noise in the system, Even the 164 number means that the engine had less than 55 revolutions in stage 4 (7700 RPM)
