Question PCM delete easy?

Since I'm not getting any sound out of the PCM and I don't care about maps, I would like to remove the PCM head unit from my car and replace it with the stowage compartment from the factory radio delete option M609.

Is it as easy as removing the head unit and replacing it with the stowage part? I'm worried about not being able to access some car configuration menus. Would the car electronics need to be reprogrammed to a non-PCM state?

Many thanks.

PS. The gear lever boot in this picture (not my car) is also annoying me...

It’s easy, no ill effects to worry about. I really like how it updates the cabin.

I'm assuming you no longer have any audio? I wonder if mr12v audio could be made to work without a pcm and just a volume **** somewhere hidden.

I know that this thread is a bit old, but I was wondering what (if any) error lights/codes are sent to the dash if you don't have the ability to code out the pcm? (I only have the enthusiast Durametric).

Removing the PCM will not trigger any lights on the dash, however you will see an error code if you scan the system.

Glad I wasn't the only one that grimaced when I saw that.
