I typically park my 997.2 2S Cab indoors with the windows and top down. Lately I've been parking the car outside with the top and windows up.
Twice in the past month I have gone outside to my locked car and foundthe left (driver's side) rear window to be half open. The first time it happened I figured I must have been careless when closing the top and putting the windows up the night before.
Now that it has happened a second time (same window, same half-open position), I am just about convinced that the car is doing this on its own. Luckily I haven't had a theft or rain problem, although the second time was a near miss averted by a keen-eyed neighbor.
I assume there must be a faulty sensor at work that is causing the car to do this, but I really don't know.
Can anyone on this forum offer any suggestions as to how to diagnose and/or fix the problem? I would very much appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!
My 09 997.2 Cab does something like this sometimes. When the top closes and the windows start going up, sometimes the passenger side will go all the way up and then drop town half way. I bet it does it 3 times a year. Not enough for me to worry. I just make sure that they are all up when I get out. But I've never had it drop down after I take the key out.
BTW, I've been told its the limit switch on the window. Not sure if that's correct, but kinda makes sense.
I haven't had it happen after I've shut the car down, but the windows on my cab have ALL gone up and then backed down partway at one point or another over the years when I was closing my top.
I have found that when it happens a lot, it is one of the ghosts in the machine that is letting me know my battery is weak.
At other times, it's just an annoyance and I have made it a habit to look at the windows (or listen for the telltale sound of one of them reversing) every time I close my top.
Thanks for the feedback, fellas. I appreciate it very much. The other day I was putting the top up and the rear driver's side window stopped halfway. So it was happening while I was putting the top up and not while the car was off. So I just need to be more careful when putting up the top. Thanks again for the feedback!
