Hi all, I've been lurking on the forum for quite some time, wanted to introduce myself and join in the fun.
First I bought 2008 Targa4s in black 6 years ago, on the way home I was rear ended, with engine damage so salvage. I took that money and 5.5 years ago got the white one I have today @ 50k miles. Just clocked 115,000 miles today. I've taken this covid time to read over all of your great write ups, service manuals, and youtube videos and am doing my first car service, outside of a bulb change this weekend: cabin, air, oil (Walmart has 5 qts for $28 and mail in $10 visa), filter, and maybe a new serpentine belt. Thank you!
I gave up a lot to get this car, admittedly purchased earlier in life than I should have so have been struggling but its paid off in March! I can't wait to use some money freed up from that and get get a few issues sorted with it (PASM failure (thinking its the suspension with 115k miles?) & (Complete Failure of Targa Roof, which is sad because its such a great feature which I fear is going to take a complete tear down and be $$$$).
The old window sticker notates it as "Carrera Red Natural Leather". It definitely would not have been my first option but when collecting my insurance off the first Porsche getting rear ended it was the only other 997 Targa 4S for sale on this side of the country. And at that point I was already hooked on Targa.
Not going to lie, if I was picking it from the factory 5 years ago I would have chosen different combo but if I were to order a new 911 today the white exterior, black rims, and red interior would be in the running.
