997.2 GTS Aero Install Speedster/Sport Classic Front Splitter
Out for spirited drive and cracked my factory aero front splitter off.
Decided to replace with OEM Speedster/Sport Classic splitter.
Painted and clear coated, must wait minimum of 30+ days to xpel.
Much narrower than factory aero, see how it looks when fully installed.
Part came from suncoast, primed and ready for paint; black code 041.
Will post picks of final install, in meantime here are some photos.
~$600 for part, ~$230 for paint, and ~$240 for xpel.
*PICS* Repair 4 Cracked Retaining Slots/Up on All Fours
Jacked GTS up with Daytona jack from harbor freight, bottle jack, and four 4-ton stands (directions included, not liable for any harm or damage if used).
Inspected under body, looks good besides cracked front splitter retaining slots.
Tested on busted front splitter first, epoxy set in 5 min, and was rock solid in one hour. Continued to actual GTS bumper to repair.
Tools & Supplies:
JB Weld Epoxy, Alcohol (70%), Brush, Griots Fine swabs, Gloves, Eye protection, Small DeWalt clamps, Blower to dry.
Procedures:
(1) Thoroughly cleaned broken area and cracked surfaces with alcohol (2) Blew dry then let air dry for 15 min; (3) Mixed epoxy 1:1 ratio; (4) Worked on one to two cracks per session from tightest area (i.e., least damage) to loosest area (i.e. most cracked easy to separate); (5) Applied epoxy to both surfaces of crack; (6) Lightly clamped or held where necessary as epoxy setup; (7) Used fine point swabs to clean out excess squeeze-out; (8) Allowed to cure for 60 min before continuing.
Still have about 3 weeks+ to go before I can put the Sport Classic splitter in and get xpel film on it to match rest of car.
