Default Home Link - 997.2 installation

Found a home-link module on a well known internet auction site and was wondering if it would be possible to install as an add on?

My MY09 997.2 did not have this as a factory install option...

Mine stopped working and needs a new module, but the work to remove the entire front bumper to replace it isn't worth it...

The main problem to solve would be the wiring. The homelink module will sit "somewhere near" the middle of the front bumper.
If your car did not have this as an option, then you will need the controls (near the rear view mirror and sunroof controls)
Then you will need to run the wiring from the module to the controls => this is the most challenging part.

A much simpler mod would be to add a fake/blank button in your (PSM, Sport mode row etc) and wire it up to your regular garage opener.
Or you could just get the OEM controls and wire your garage opener to it.
Someone in the 996 forum did this a few years ago and it's very discrete.

Thank you for your replies. Just what I needed to know.

Basically, I guess I'll just continue to use the "zapper" then as it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble...
