Default Seat Memory Dysfunction - Need Troubleshooting Advice

In my '08 997 C4S the electric seats and mirrors work just fine. However, despite uncounted attempts to erase and/or reprogram the memory for the keys and the memory buttons on the door, I cannot achieve success. The PO was really short so on unlock the seat goes far forward and upward; it's a real pia to get back to my desired settings.

I've read a ton of threads and tried all the various recommendations for clearing and reprogramming the keys and buttons all without joy. I also looked under the driver's seat for a loose connector on the control module. I did notice the the Memory 2 and 3 buttons do not work at all so I suspect a loose connection on the button module behind the door panel.

I decided to inquire with the Rennlist collective brain trust for troubleshooting advice before I start taking things apart. Thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

Scott

On my 997.2, the Durametric will read faults if there is a bad connection, pretty much anywhere. Not sure about the 997.1... maybe someone with a Durametric in Charlotte can help you out.

Regarding a loose connection at the control module.... try disconnecting and reseating it. I suspect it there rather than in the door as stuff gets jammed under seats all the time and nothing happens behind the door panel.

Peace

Excellent suggestions Bruce. I have a Durametric Enthusiast; I'll try it today. Will also try the disconnect/reconnect procedure. I will report my results.

I think these types of errors will be something like "CAN comfort communications...." or something like that.

Bruce,

I followed your suggestion and hooked up the Durametric; sure enough there was a C102 error. A google search revealed your post on this subject from Tax Day 2017. Following your lead, I raised the seat up and back, found the controller box and inspected/fiddled with the front connector and wires. Then I moved the seat completely forward and accessed the three connectors on the back. After dorking with them I cleared the fault code, took the car for a spin and then tested the seat memory functions: NO JOY! I returned to the garage and the Durametric showed that the error had returned. ARRGH.

I refuse to take this problem to the dealership so I guess that I'll find a wiring diagram and start chasing the CAN Comfort Bus. I cannot fathom that I'll be able to do much without pulling out the driver's seat; something that I definitely am not looking forward to.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Scott
