Yep, those are the ones I used first for my 997 and now for a 981. Work great, just have to remember to remove them when you’re finished.

Can someone tell me why I would need 4 of these pads and not just 2?

Remember, the point of this puck is to have it inserted into the hole and stay there before I place the jack. Some of the other pads noted in this post are nice.... but not helpful as they don't hook. They have to hook first, then that makes placing the jack much easier as you don't have to find the hole via bendfing down, face on the cement, to see the hole. Doing it this way, hooking the pad/puck first (without looking), will prevent crushing/bending the plastic body bits.

BTW, a new hockey puck is literally $2.00.

Peace

Getting ready to do an oil change, so if this is the jacking point, where do I place the jack stand once I jack the car up?

You can do it on the jack, just be careful. The other way to do it is jack the front high enough to get a jack stand under the rear.

Ok if I put the jack on the spot Bruce post and jack up the car, where do I place the jack stand to support the car?

Thanks for your humor, it is very welcome.

I do find it funny how you manage to bring so many replies on a joke while others with genuine questions hardly get any response at all.

Cheers and good luck with your patent 😇

I haven't had to jack mine up yet but I'll probably buy another floor jack to hold the last side up via a suspension point to remove the other floor jack from the lifting point to replace it with a jack stand. So all four jack stands are on the 4 lift points. If I'm not working underneath the car I might just use the 3 jack stands and the floor jack on the 4 lifting points.

The liftbars seem nice too.....but I figure I'll get more use out of 4 Esco stands and two floor jacks for other stuff. The liftbars could only be used on the 997.

http://liftbars.com/

Looks like a neat solution and should help show you where the 4 lifting pads are. The bars have a male post that fits into the female part of the pads underneath the car. Might be tough to see but if you feel around those areas you should find them easily. Drive up on some 2x8's to give yourself a little room to stick your head under there to see them?

I like this liftbar but rather pricey for just 2 bars.

Agreed and I'm on the fence about them but it's all part of the experience!

It is definitely possible to lift the car onto 4 jackstands with a single jack - that's how poor my garage was initially.
harborfreight jack and jackstands. You just need to do a full on dance to complete the process

1) Raise the rear and place stand under the front.
2) Raise the rear by the "suspension arm linkage subframe thingy" (you'll know it when you see it).
3) Repeat for other side of the car.

This is still 4 raises to put the car on 4 jackstands - not bad.
If you have in-place jackstands (like SafeJack or Jackpoint stands) or LiftBars, then you only need 1 raise per side.

I will only be needing the 2 rear wheels to be air born, 1. change oil, 2. replace spark plugs.
I think I got it figured out now, I jack up the front tires until the rear lifts up and that's where I would put the jack stand. Repeat other side and voila 2 rear wheels air born.
