You should mention where you’re located.

After you did the install of your carpet was there still alot of road noise? Is that something normal in these cars. I have been thinking to order a sound damping pad and put it under the carpet to see if that would take some of the noise away its not crazy loud but it can been difficult to have a converstation when not on a perfect road. I do enjoy the growl of the car but the road noise seems a bit much.

Tires are new I just put on the recommended Bridgestone tires there were some toyo's on the car when i got it I was looking for the michlens tires but they were not in stock so I was told this was the next best thing for these roads as it is summer temp year around here

I can’t say that I’ve ever heard or read about people complaining that the 997 was (road) noisy. The 997.1 is a Sports Car! You are sitting much closer to the road and rear wheel wells so you naturally going to hear more road noise. The best tires noise wise, wear, and rain are the Michelins, bar none. Bridgestones are more aggressive and far noisier from new. Worn tires are always noisier.
You can try insulating the floor but doubt it will make much difference. I would concentrate on insulating the wheel wells and/or wheel well liners, particularly the rear-that will certainly dampen any sand/gravel pickup noise.
cheers,

I love your RST build. Love to see more interior shots of this car.

I also have never been bothered by road nocie at all in any 911. I am always scratching my head a bit when I hear people complaint about road noise. I suppose it could be cheap tires. The Contis were loud, but I stopped using those back in the mid 2000s. Perhaps I am just used to sports cars and tune it out, but I drive other stuff as well and just don't notice road noise in my 911s of any year, narrow body or wide body.

There is an excellent noise dampening product that I once used in a restoration of an old "tin-can" 1970 VW Squareback Type 4, called DYNAMAT. It's an adhesive-backed, sound deadener, comes in a convenient 12" (IIRC) wide roll or squares also. There is an installation tool as well, basically a small hand-held wooden roller with a handle. You lay down the product and give it a good rolling to press it down firmly. But first, I used a rust preventative liquid, called POR-15 directly on ALL the inside sheetmetal of the flooring, wheel wells, under the seats, inside the door panels, in the rear trunk area flooring too. After giving it all a really good cleaning, I covered EVERYTHING inside that old Squareback, even the underside of the roof panel, prior to having a new headliner installed. After all the DYNAMAT was laid, the carpeting was installed. That was the quietest VW EVER!!! It was as quiet as a Lexus! At the time, in the late '90s, DYNAMAT was just about the only product of that type, available and it wasn't cheap. It was primarily used for stereo installations.

Recently however, I have seen similar sound deadening materials readily available for alot less money on some of the cheaper Chinese websites like Aliexpress, Wish, DH Auto and Banggood.

Im thinking to go with the Dynamat just not sure how much to order finally found a decent uphostery shop they quote me 1,000 to add the Dynamat and 800 to re wrap my terracotta seats in Vinyl seems a bit much and i would truly prefer to have the leather but for the leather they quoted me 1600 per seat and i dont think thats porsche leather I have been thinking to switch the color to a clay tan color but dont want the car to look like a kids crayon mishap. Do you know if any experince in what is the best material for daily wear and tear
