Can anyone recommend a shop (preferably on the Peninsula) in the Bay Area for steering / suspension work?
My 2005 997 C2S is a little lose. I replaced the inner and outer tie rods, and it improved a lot, but then it got lose again. Seems like one of those things where you fix one issue, and another one is exposed, so I'd really like someone to take a look at it that isn't just going to shotgun parts at it.
I have used Custom Alignment in Mountain View several times and they do excellent work at reasonable prices. I have no other affiliation with the shop.
There are usually a few GTs in the lot and they do a lot of dedicated track cars.
I was there recently after the dealer indicated I needed extensive front suspension work. The Porsche guy there test drove it, put it on the rack and said, "you have some wear, but you do not need
the work they recommend. Oh, and the cost quote, when I do need the work, (big surprise) was half that quoted by the dealer.
Ditto on Custom Alignment. They handled tire installation and a full alignment for me and the car felt great afterward and the tire wear is doing great.
Took the car to Custom Alignment - they found a bad front left wheel bearing. I actually had to talk them into changing both front wheel bearings. Will update after I've get her back.
