Default Audio system

Hello, I am interested in upgrading the audio system in my ASK equipped 2006 911. I am looking to use anything I can that is as close to oem as possible, don’t wanna hack anything up and am looking to keep the factory pcm. If anyone has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Not completely sure about the OEM system but Blaupunkt makes some good stuff. I've never been disappointed by Alpine either. For keeping the factory system and wiring you would need to locate the factory amp. If it's built into the head unit an external amp can be used via the pre-amps to improve signal quality. I'm not sure if the factory one will have outputs for RCA to do that. If there are pre-amp RCA outputs and no amplifier fitted then you would need to run cabling for an aftermaket one. It isn't too bad but can be somewhat involved. If there's already an amp fitted to the car then you can replace that for a more modern one. After that you can look into speakers and that's about it for keeping the factory head unit an improving your system. My 997 has the Bose package but whoever owned it prior added in a JL amplifier/Sub combo and Pioneer Head unit. The Bose hits the highs nicely but the mids aren't great. After some time I'll probably box up the factory components and swap over to a set of Alpine speakers. If you have any questions about car audio feel free to PM me. I've installed all my own stuff in my cars and helped friends upgrade their own as well.

Which Blaupunkt, or Alpine, head-unit would you recommend for a 997.2 with the Bose system?
Thanks!

Well what are you looking for? Do you want added navigation or a CD player? DVDs? If you're after something more simple with not a lot of bells and whistles things get a bit cheaper. Were you able to confirm that there is an amplifier already wired in? The newer ones also have Bluetooth and can support phone calling/music over Bluetooth along with a backup camera that can be installed. It all depends on what you're looking to do.
