Default Gauge cluster lights with light switch in “Home” position

So I’m an 997 noob and was wondering whether the gauge cluster lights should be on at night with the switch in the “home” position. I believe the answer is yes, but I don’t see this specifically addressed in the manual.

I recently disconnected the battery to install the deviated seatbelts and I feel like I have lost this function after reconnecting, but wanted to make sure that this is in fact the way it’s supposed to work. Thanks.

Anyone with some insight? Just want to know if I actually have a problem before bringing it into the dealer.

I don't think the home switch position affects the cluster lights. The only thing it does is turn on the fogs for 30+ seconds when you turn off the car. Otherwise it's the same as the OFF position.

I can't confirm 100% though as the car is home and I'm at work goofing off.

AFAIK, Home position on the headlight switch allows the
lights to stay on for a designated interval (selectable in
the PCM ) to light your way for some seconds.

Thank you guys for the reply. I guess I assumed it worked like the “Auto” setting in the 991 where I could just set and forget it. So do you all crank the switch all the way over clockwise for driving at night and turn it to off or “home” when shutting down?

Works as described on my 2012 C2S. Turn switch to home to leave lights on for a few seconds as you make your way to the entrance to your home or wherever.

I always switch to "home". It does leave the lights on for a few moments (minute or two) including inside lights. I never checked the cluster but will next time.

It’s always annoyed me that my ‘09 didn’t have automatic headlights standard. At least, auto off. It’s not the added effort of using the switch that bothers me, it’s the fact that everything in the car is computerized and adding auto off lights would have involved some lines of code and that’s about it.

Thanks for checking. Looks like all systems normal for me then. This is my first “older” car so I guess I was just a bit spoiled with auto lights.
