Default 997.2 Engine Mount Help

I picked up a new to me 2010 911 C2 w/ 56k and it feels like motor mounts are shot so I ordered some RSS semi-solid (RSS-624) mounts to replace. The directions say to use original hardware but this being a 997.2 it has the closed torx head nuts on the bottom of the stock engine mounts so I ordered a set of open ended oem m12x1.5 nuts (999-084-215-01-oem) from pelican parts.

When trying to thread on by hand the nut doesn't engage very far before getting stuck and feeling like i'm about to crossthread it. This happens with both nuts on both RSS mount bolts. See below for how far I can thread it by hand. Is this normal? Anyone else tried threading on by hand and did it go much further? I'm wondering if I got the wrong mounts but there's no part number anywhere printed on them so hard to tell or if maybe I got the wrong nuts. I'm going to remove one of the OEM mounts later today and try threading the new nuts on it to see how far it goes - maybe that's all the engagement there is supposed to be, seems weird to have a lot more thread available.

Any feedback appreciated.

Hi pizzacake, that is normal as they are crimp nuts, designed to clamp down on threads so they do not back off once torqued. Give us a call if you need further assistance. (714)-557-2311
