coolant flush cost?
I just had my indy flush and replace my "lifetime" coolant on my 2005 997 with 34k miles on it , first time flush . I am in the NJ/NY metro area and I like my Indy although i know he can sometimes be a bit expensive. I know the proper flush is complex and the coolant is expensive, so is $475 in line, albeit a little on the high side? Thanks.

I would say high in my parts. I was charged 650 for installing a low temp thermostat, center radiator, and coolant flush.
Hell look at it as peace of mind. Go for a drive and you’ll forget all about it!

I have been threatening to do this for a few years now on my 2009 C2S with 134K miles.....but I don't have a lift and the only DIYs I found require removing the bottom pan and disconnecting some hoses.... I don't like lying under a car. I gotta believe there is a way to disconnect something low and then blow the crap outta there.
For my car, capacities in the owner's manual states 8.3 gallons. Pelican has genuine Porsche fluid (@ 50/50 w/distilled water) for about $180.
So I don;t know what his labor rate is... but if it is say $100 per hour, then that's about 3 hours of labor. Maybe....
Peace

That job is complex and very hard to do unless you have the airlift equipment. It is also known that there is no such thing as life time fluids so you should do it every so often.
Drain coolant in 3 places, need a lift, and removal of under panel
Fill with gallons and gallons of fluid
Bleed, test drive, check for leaks.
Total labor is 2 hours at $150 an hour
$20 per gallon for any cheap coolant, $40 for Porsche coolant.
$475 is just about right for a good independent mechanic to do this. This is not a Toyota where you reach in, disconnect a bottom hose, let it drain and fill it with a garden hose.

Thanks for the comments and input guys; sounds like it was a "fair" price as he had to vacuum the system to get all the coolant out, etc. Just wanted to level set and provide a data point for others who may be considering doing this as well

The labor rate per hour can be a significant factor.
My nearest Porsche Dealer charges $225/hr, most Porsche Indys in the area charge $160/hr (some a smidge more).
