This is like a calcutta bet, but with RNM. i.e., we would only really be able to bet on a value it ends at that is RNM. Just going to confuse everyone more than usual probably. Oh well.

As for the GT3 - I still think it won't meet reserve.

Yeah, probably reserve at $95k. $100k all-in isn't a "deal" for a black GT3. There was an absolutely sweet "storm trooper" version with similar miles in outstanding condition in Sacramento that sold for $110k last month. It had contrasting white seatbacks and white trim pieces and was probably the best .2 GT3 I have seen.

When I inquired about listing mine, the reserve was basically set at 5% over wholesale. It was a 997.2 manual and would have had no problem clearing reserve, but their attitude at the time seemed to be "we hold all of the cards; play by our rules or get lost" (I sold it here in the meantime). Now, it seems that they allow for higher reserves; many times above what a mean sale price is expected to be, which doesn't seem like a good business model, as they put a lot of time into listing cars that are of the type that might sell but probably won't. Having a model where the reserve is set at 1/2 of a standard distribution below the mean seems reasonable, provided they have good numbers and a normal distribution; an abnormally low price won't be accepted but something close to the mean will be. They probably have the data by now to do so; they can use the normal distribution developed over the past few years on certain model cars and adjust for current mean pricing. The distribution shouldn't change when adjusted for the mean, unless a PTS premium is factored in (which it shouldn't be as PTS cars are idiosyncratic auctions).
They also accept a lot more cars than they would have previously. They weren't interested in our 991 back then, but now they seem to have several up at any given time. They are also allowing re-listings after a few months, at least on a M3 they recently had up. RNM in January, same car up from the same dealer in May.

Sigh,
I guess that is what happens when you have a 4 day weekend. Last time I checked there were 4 days left. No i have not nor do i want to. Went through this before and I have no intention of using a mulligan especially this late! I will remove my bid.
