Default TPMS battery

just had a service done at my indie. He tested/measured the TPMS batteries and he got a reading of 0%. They appear to be the original sensors on my 2012 GTS.

I'm still getting a dash reading.

What's going on?

My 08 was getting intermittent left side tire readings. Had tested and all reading correct pressure at tire shop with cordless device. They could not check battery life with their type of device. I replaced all 4 and zero issue since. The ones that came out were not OEM so second set at least on OEM wheels 10-11 years old. I would replace at next tire change if original unless they crap out sooner.

At 7 years old I would not invest the time to test but go straight to replacement since 7 years is the average life expectancy of TPMS batteries.

Save the money and remove them. Sensors are expensive, they die, and aren’t all that accurate. I had mine turned off and removed. You also can’t fill a tire with emergency goo and limp home if you have them. I had a bad day trying to get home with a 5 yo in tow resulting in waiting on a tire that took several days at Porsche, and no car. I’d never get TPMS again in a daily driver.

Im kinda of thinking the same thing at this point. We made it 100 years without TPMS. Remove the buggers and recode. Its not the usual 30 second tire pressure check every two weeks like they taught in Hi School, its the hundreds in TPMS and beeps.
