Default Fabspeed Motorsport | 997 Carrera Sport Cat X-pipe

Hey guys, Scott Keating Performance specialist and ASE master certified mechanic from Fabspeed Motorsport USA here! Fabspeed Motorsport has built over 3000 sets of 997/996 HJS German imported modular high-flow catalytic converter X pipes over the past 15 years. We just completed another in-house production run and I wanted to highlight our Porsche 997/996 Carrera Sport Catalytic converter/ catbypass pipe X-Pipe, a true performance system that we designed, engineered and dyno developed over almost 15 years ago and have been improving on the original design over the years with engineering input and feedback from Grand American / Koni professional and amateur Cub racers and street driven Porsche car owners worldwide.

FYI, there are four restrictive OEM catalytic converters on every 997/996 Carrera as delivered from Porsche AG in an over and under configuration. The Fabspeed sport Cat X-Pipe directly replaces all o 4 catalytic converters with 2 high-flow, 200 cell HJS German OBD2 Euro level 6 catalytic cores that flow 93% to 95% of a straight pipe. This is a simple, bolt-on upgrade that significantly improves sports car sound, increases WHP by +18, TQ by +22 ft/lbs., and saves 4 lbs. compared to the dense, 700 CPSI factory cores. All without triggering a CEL – guaranteed!

The key to this product is the X-Pipe design that ties each of the Porsche flat 6 engine banks together versus a very simple over and under pipe configuration. Fabspeed Motorsport initially offered over and under 996/997 sport cats and catbypass pipes but after exhaust testing and consulting with US and European OEM power train engineers and Porsche race teams we designed and launch our proprietary X pipe system.

Ultimately, we invested in CAD tooling to make lost wax investment cats X pipes in various sizes to support the increasing power outputs of Porsche, Ferrari and other cars. Fabspeed first implemented in the X pipe sport cat in the 996 and 997 to great success, and after worldwide acclaim and significant beneficial documented quantitative and qualitative gains we have been fitted to every Carrera product line. The X-Pipe creates a scavenging effect which pulls exhaust through, increasing overall airflow and creating a more refined but superlative sportscar tone over a basic crossover configuration. Look online our X pipe configuration has been emulated by a multitude other European tuners.

An additional added benefit of any and all Fabspeed Motorsport X pipes for 997 cars and other Porsche cars is that Fabspeed has a truly unique modular design in which our X pipe has the functionaly so that the 997 car owner can purchase our X pipe with catalytic converter and also buy a set of catbypass pipes and SWAP OUT for emissions legal street driving and also go racing in a few minutes. For those who want maximum performance gains the catbypass version which adds +33 WHP, +41 ft/lbs. of TQ,

Happy to help you out, The X-Pipes are model-specific due to brackets and other minuscule variables.

Unfortunately, the group buy has ended, but if you're interested in ordering an X-Pipe I am happy to email you a quote.

Feel free to PM or Email me.

You know if it passes CA smog?

If it doesn't trigger a CEL, would that help?

curious.

Mike,

It would most likely pass the Sniff test, but you may have issues with the Visual inspection, unfortunately.

We do guarantee no CEL.
