Default Help: Pre-Purchase Inspection in Chicago

First time writing on this board. I have zeroed-in on a 997.2 Targa 4S in the Chicago area. The dealer is not interested in having the car driven or flatbed transported to a PPI independent shop.
Does anyone know of a mobile PPI that can do this on site?
Do you believe that is enough for a PPI?
Any help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, it did snow today. There is a RL that posts here about a "mobile" service, and he'll find your post soon enough.

Just FYI, 3 years ago I bought my 2009 C4S from a non-Porsche dealer in Chicago and had a PPI done at The Porsche Exchange in Highland Park, Ill. the cost was $350 and the seller agreed to reimburse me if I found the car to be satisfactory and went ahead with purchase. The seller drove the car to TPE for the inspection. I bought the car after getting the report and was reimbursed .
Looks like you have found a mobile service to do the PPI which is great (any dealer that refused to have the car leave the dealership seems shady to me and I would have walked away). You might want to try negotiating that they pay for or reimburse you for the PPI. Strongly suggest never buying a Porsche without a PPI unless it is CPO. Good luck

It is looking more like I am walking away from this deal the more I google the dealership.

Yeah, there are plenty of good pre-owned Porsches around for sale. Just keep searching and trust your gut if it just doesn't feel right , it isn't. Always get a PPI.
All these dealers act like their **** don't stink but discerning buyers know better.

If you are looking at the black one at the Rolls Royce dealer that had super low miles, they wanted a TON of money for it, its been listed for awhile.

997.2 Targas are difficult to find if that is your target car. I looked for nearly 6 months, daily internet searches before I found mine. I bought a 2010 Targa 4S early October for 58k with 33k miles. I put a deposit down the day it was listed for sale and flew out to see it a few days later. After completing the purchase the salesman said they had 5-10 interested buyers within the first few hours of listing it and I was lucky to be first.

Just trying to give you perspective if a Targa is what you are after.

Yes that is the car. I am very surprised that they refused to have it inspected by an independent mechanic. The Carfax indicates 3 owners with no service records and they don't have any. Something doesn't smell right.
Unless someone on Rennlist has checked this vehicle out in person, I am not prepared to fly from California for a bad deal.

How are you enjoying your Targa 4S? yes they are becoming hard to find.

Thanks again!

Not to be too negative, but I think the lack of service history is just part of buying from a typical dealer.

On my purchase, there wasn't much listed for service history and the selling dealer (a Porsche dealer) had no records. Two other Porsche dealers were listed in the Carfax, I called them and a few other places in the same arraand asked if they had history on a car based upon the VIN. I could reconstruct oil change/annual service history but could never find any major service history (20/40/60k mile services)

I just assumed they were never done and ate the cost to have them done and "catch up" the history.

I would be equally wary if Carfax had no service records and dealer didn't want to allow a PPI. You could try autocheck if you wanted to pay personally.

I love the Targa, roof is awesome
