First post, first Porsche; question about PPI
Hi all - long time lurker, first time poster (if memory serves).
After a long search I found a 2006 C2S that is very much in line with what I want as my first ever Porsche. It's on the other side of the country from me, so I'll likely be doing my buying online/over the phone.
The dealer is happy to have a PPI done and recommended a German car specialist in the area. I spoke with the German car specialist and he said he'd do it, but suggested a Porsche specialist in the area when I asked about checking IMS. Overall vibe I got from the guy was very good - seemed happy to help.
I called the Porsche specialist and he said he'd do a check, but he wouldn't put anything in writing and honestly seemed annoyed. He said he could cut the oil filter up to look for signs of failure, but when I asked if they check for scoring with a bore scope he said he's not the guy if I want that done. The overall impression I got wasn't as positive.
I realize dealing with the public can be a challenge, but from what I've read about this generation bore scoping and thorough IMS checks are a must. Should I continue looking for another PPI specialist?
Thank you!
