The best “gray” for the gray northwest
I’m stepping out of a dark metallic silver car (which I really like) and into a 997 in some shade of gray. I live in the northwest where it’s gray a lot of the time, but I still like grays and silvers. :-P
im trying to decide between the following colors (I’ve seen them all in person but still undecided).
Basalt Black
Seal Gray
GT Silver
Arctic Silver
i think atlas and slate are too matte/flat. And pure black is too much of a cleaning nightmare.
I want something sleek, sexy, and classy, yet a little subdued.

I have arctic silver which is bright enough for PNW but then my car never comes out during the miserable 8 months of rain / gray we have in here.
My dailies are usually have been white.

My RUF 997 is GT Silver. It's a beautiful color and actually has some black in it. In some lighting conditions it looks brigher and in others darker. Here are a few shots in some different lighting conditions
Another color I really like is Meteor Grey Metallic and if you can find that with the Cocoa interior, it's a beautiful combination.
Basalt Black looks great with polished wheels as the wheels bring out the metallic sparkle of the paint. The polished Champions in a couple of the above photos are currently for sale.

I have Meteor, I like it, but I like Seal better. Not sure if they even had that color on 997.2, as I usually recall seeing it on 997.1 cars. Sure someone else will know.

If your are looking for "subdued" then don't forget there's also "Platinum Silver," which is slightly warmer in hue than the other silvers. There is no blue cast to it. Instead it has a drop of gold. I believe it only became an option in the latter years of 997 production. Here is a terrible iphone shot, but it gives a sense of the warmth:
