Default Spoon Rigid Collar Instructions Translated

Hello Everyone,

I've been sitting on a box of Spoon Rigid Collars I purchased on a whim on ebay. I am going to put them in sometime before the 14th. For anyone who decides to purchase them they may or may not be surprised to find the instructions in Japanese. A fantastic board member named "bc" on the Car Lounge translated the instructions and has given permission to share with the community here. I hope it'll be useful for anyone considering the parts. I'll update with my impressions after they go in.

bc says: "grease coast all contact surfaces between rigid collars and chassis"

I have seen this type of collar on different forums (non Porsche) do you really think this is going to change the feel of your car? Are you experiencing subframe chatter or movement?

Voice - I spent the better part of 5 years tooling around with an S2000 built for autocross. Those S2K guys track, hard. On the same level as the Porsche die-hards. Many of them who were running in competitive time trials swear by the effectiveness of the collars with several personal friends telling me about their (anecdotal) positive experience. I am still skeptical. I have not seen any data on them whatsoever aside from some Spoon created marketing material with a Prius (of all cars).

I have not experienced any subframe chatter or movement that I'm aware of and my alignment is still good after a weekend at the track. We aren't fixing anything broken here. This was a spur of the moment ebay purchase. Call it a lost opportunity with the S2000 righted with the 911. The install is easily DIY and the kit was around $280 or so, which is relatively economical as far as Porsche parts go so what should anyone expect from them... It'll make for a fun Saturday project with friends in the garage, money well spent as far as I am concerned. I posted the pictures and instructions for posterity for the community should anyone else decide to go this route and not understand the supplied instructions.

I installed this few months ago and had posted it on here

no noticeable change. Also buying it from Blackhawk japan website directly is about $50 cheaper than eBay.

I have these on my s2000 and I definitely recommend them to my track friends who have s2000s. What they do is take up the slack between subframe bolts, subframe and frame - making it almost into 1 bonded unit. Yes they do work, in the s2000 with the cornering speeds we can sustain, it pays itself in holding alignments. Everybody is always trying to make a stiffer and stiffer chassis, for $200 nothing else does a better more cost effective job. The slop/tolerance allowed in manufacturing allows for ease of assembly and production.

I also read the s2k owner reviews about these before my purchase. I think the tolerances on the 997 are a lot tighter than a s2k hence no noticeable difference on our cars. Just to note I already had ohlins coilovers and rss semi solid mounts installed before I tried the rigid collars.
