I am replacing the gasket that sits between the oil filler cap and the filler tube on my 997.2 S. The existing gasket is positioned so that the flat side of the gasket faces out from the cap. In other words the flat section will make contact with the tube. When I was ordering it (dealer) the rep said it should be installed the reverse way. I have only been able to find one pic an existing cap, but it was a 997.1 and the shot involved gunk in the tube so the gasket was hard to see. Could some kind soul take a look at their cap? I am only doubting dealer because it was the counter rep and not the mechanic.

Thanks for the reply. The pic on the euro site referenced looks like a very small depression for the exposed side of the gasket. My new one is absolutely flat on one side, whilest the other side has a groove at least 1/16"+ deep. Kinda neither matches that pic, but think its closer to flat side out (the way my current gasket installed).

Thanks all, that's enough confirmation for me to install the gasket the same way as the old one.
