Default 2008 997 Check Engine Light

Check engine light came on in my 08 Carrera (79k always maintained). Porsche dealer says it relates to a fuse in the air pump. Also, there is said to be a short in the pump which needs to be replaced... $2,900. Cherry on my sundae... MIGHT need to “clean” the exhaust system out for another $3,000. Total exposure is nearly $6k. Time to trade-in or get a second opinion? Love the car... thanks for your input!

Its a $1000 part from the dealer, but only $200 if you go for an OE/OEM part. Check with the forum vendors. From memory, it looked easy to access with the airbox out, I think I only saw a couple bolts. I bet a good indy would do the job for $350 all-in. Not really sure what cleaning the exhaust means. Is that a cat replacement?
