Door key lock cylinder feels a little "sticky"?

Quick question,
The door lock cylinder on my 997 feels a tad sticky, meaning when you insert the key and turn anti-clockwise it feels not as "springy" as one would expect but rather a tad "sticky" (to use scientific words). Also, the little flap covering the key plug hole (is that what it's called, where the key slides into?) seems a tad sticky...
So.... What is/are the next step(S)? Should I use some oil (and if so what type) to lubricate the actual lock cylinder or should I get the WD-40 out and start spraying?
