Default Front bumper removal help...

Listers,

I'm trying to remove the front bumper to add the 3rd radiator and of course there is always something that is a stumper the first time doing anything...well, I need a little help. I cannot get the sliding clips on the top by the headlights to move at all. I played around with them from the back and they seem to be loose enough, but I obviously can't seem to figure out the secret code to get them to move...does anyone have the secret formula? I have used a small screw driver to make sure they aren't stuck on the different area where I can, but feel I must be doing something wrong.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Skip

I was using Ryan's write up already, but thanks. So...I got the passenger side with some WD40 and some playing with the clip, but the driver side was inserted a bit too by the factory or last time it was off at a dealer, and so the part of the clip that should be above the body groove is under and I can't get a tool in there to pull it back out. Think I'm going to haver to cut the clip out and get a replacement...there is always 1 thing that makes every project the rift time a bit difficult.

Lots of fun.

Best method is to use the fishing line to hook clip swivel connector (or something similar) to remove the slider in less than a minute every time without fuss. Time to visit the wally world!

With Headlight and plastic trims removed, you now have access to both ends of the slider.

A hole of the slider where you would put through the fishing line. Take the one end of the clip off of the line so that it would go through.

Once through the hole, attach the clip back on so that it would catch when you pull.

...and pull it.

I didn't buy this exact one but you get the idea...

Just went through this. For me liberally spraying penetrating oil and letting it sit overnight, then loosening all the fasteners and jiggling the bumper around gave me some movement. I then used a steel line and mocked up a reverse hammer and it eventually came out. If you have a small cumalong, you might be able to fab something up

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same exact problem. Passenger side was easy peasy. Driver's side will not budge. I used a hook tool, and also tried braided wire wrapped around it and it wont budge. Anyone else have additional tips?

Push it out with a long flat blade screwdriver from the headlight bucket, rather than trying to pull it.

This worked like a charm. Took me 5 mins to remove the headlights and then just another few mins to remove the clips. Thanks for the idea, wish I had asked Sunday when I was struggling with this for what seemed like an eternity.
