Default Transporting bicycle in 911

Does anyone use a bike bag to transport a road bike in the back seat of their 911? I don’t really want to install a hitch and I also have a cab so a roof rack is out. Looking for recommendations on a bag and how much the bike needs to be broken down.

Let us know how that goes, I am guessing both wheels need to come off, I could barely get a 24 x 36 frame in the back of the car.

I’m not sure that a bike bag will fit considering they are padded, but maybe one of the smaller ones might. I have a Pika Packworks case (you can look up the dimensions by doing a simple search) and it is pretty compact. The problem is, they are $400+. What would work best is somethng called a housse. These are simple nylon bags that your bike fits into for transport on trains in Europe (well, France anyway). I bought one in 2004 for about €25 (in France at Decathlon) and used it a couple of times transporting by time trial bike in the back of my previous 997.1 coupe. I’m not sure they are sold in the U.S. so you’d have to search european bicycle mail order outlets (of which there are no shortage). I know it is a simple matter to transport a bike in the back of a 997 Cab as I’ve offen seen guys at races (bicycle) show up in 911s. They seem to have a home made version of a Housse (which I suppose wouldn’t be hard to do) that protects the interior from grease and scratches - it is a far less expensive option and gets the job done quite well.

Thank you TCC. I will focus on that path and appreciate the validation that others have attempted.
