Just curious, are you going to get a PPI on this car to see if it truly is not a disaster on wheels or are you just shilling for a buddy? I buy and sell a whole lot of high end sports cars wholesale from both dealer buddies that get high $$$ inventory that don't want to carry risk on and high end auctions and I wouldn't touch that car at $20k. Something about this screams in bright flashing neon lights SUCKER!
Not sure anyone running across the deal of the century would post a link to it on here unless they had a deposit on it.

He is third owner. As per shilling vs. interested, some of both. I told him I’d like to see someone buy it who would drive it more than I would. However if in a couple weeks he hasn’t found that person, I’ll get a PPI, and if no red flags, I’ll buy it. I plan to buy a second home in NC in the next couple years. I would put it in storage til then.

Update: I just received a good PPI. Even though the IMS fix was done, I paid for the mechanic to remove the oil pan to inspect further for metal shavings. I knew to request this from the PCA video interview of Jack Rabi I watched a few days ago. The car checked out fine after all that so I’m going through with purchase at negotiated price of $21,500. The tires need to be replaced so my friend agreed to this lower price. Hopefully the too good to be true price won’t bite me. Looking forward to a fun alternative DD to my Cayenne.

I cannot help but to think that there are no free rides with sports cars. Most of the "best deals" I have seen and encountered over the years turn out to be more expensive than those cars that seemed over priced at the time. Anyone formerly working for a dealer and knowing the market well will get market for a car and won't give a car away unless there is a reason. Get a PPI, check for scoring and see if damage not reported to car fax. What is a 3.2 996? The last 3.2 911 I had was a 1988 Commerative Edition Cabriolet. My NA 90 had a 3.6. The 6 996s I had were all 3.6s.
His buddy works at the dealership and wanted it gone before winter.
Steals are out there.
