Default PASM Shock replacement options?

What options exist for replacing PASM shocks?

My 997.2 SPASM shocks have had Techart lowering springs for about 70k miles and I feel like any car, they might be in need of refresh. No noises or leaking yet, but I imagine lowering has had an increased effect on wear.

But a cursory search shows me that front Bilstein B6 shocks are close to $500 ea and rears the same. At $2k, it would seem that it's more wise just to get fully adjustable coilovers, but then I've seen many issues with the factory PASM working.

If it is not leaking.... it is fine.... IMO

If you are looking for a reason to make changes, fine. I then recommend the http://www.tpcracing.com/dsc.html I put this stuff in and love it.

Actually ran the TPC box for a bit. Liked how much more comfortable it was daily driving, sport mode was notably better, but overall I wasn't enough in love with it considering how I use my car.

Just not sure how much performance I'm losing at 82k miles and sport springs as far as dampening.

I'd guess they're close to dead at that point. It just happens so slowly you don't notice it.

When mine go I'm looking at Ohlin R&T. I'll loose PASM but get height adjustability as well as stiffness adjustments. I only firm up the shocks with PASM when on the track so I don't think I'll miss it.

I dunno.... I ran my shocks on my Boxster S for ... oh I don't remember ... maybe 180K miles.... put on new ones... yeah, maybe a difference... not much. I also did new Porsche springs at the same time... About 6 inches of one broke so I just replaced all four of everything. Seriously, not much difference.

These things are pretty good nowadays.... Not like the old days where your stagecoach always needed new Monroes.

Peace

My 997.1 actually has a blown shock with only 60k miles on it. Maybe I'm just used to my Lexus cars not needing anything for 200k miles.

I've owned 6 Porsches and some they wear out and some they don't. My current 997.1 (2007 S) they were shot at 50k miles at least on the rear for sure. I would turn on PASM Sport and it was like riding in a low rider just awful bouncing up and down. Rear were much worse than front. I could have got away without doing the front and been ok I guess but decided to just finish the job. When I post the sale of the rear shocks I'll be very honest to explain this. In normal mode it was really only noticeable making a 90 degree turn where the rear would squat and bounce up and down. It made me want to go back to my Boxster.
Maybe the PASM are more likely to have this issue.

Can I replace the SPASM shocks with non-PASM coilovers and code out the error message via PIWIS?

Is there any harm in doing so?

I have 60k miles have PASM and my rear shocks need replacing and my front struts mounts need some TLC

I'm trying to buy a set of Blistien B6s. They seem to be on back order everywhere. Did anyone manage to buy them recently?

Any feedback on how they perform versus stock OEM? If I can't find them a maybe stuck getting OEM from the dealer.....trying to decide if their worth waiting for

I'm subscribing to this thread. My 2006 shocks have 48,000 mile son them and I'm pretty sure the rears are toast. Interested how to choose new options, also don't understand the interaction between the shocks and the PASM.

yes you can. Many have done it especially when going to coilovers.

no harm except from losing the function of THe pasm button
