Rubber sheen question
I don't know if yours is like this, but my rubber window trim on the front window is a different sheen than the adjacent back window. The front is a nice matte texture and the back is shinier. Both pieces of trim have the same dressing on them.
Has anyone tried scuffing the trim with oooo steel wool or 1000 grit sandpaper to change the sheen?

I would not scuff it... I have had good results with either Gummi Pflege or Aerospace 303 protectant
u can also try Meguiars Back to Black which u can find in local stores... it will clean the rubber but then u need some protectant as well - like Gummi or Aerospace

do you think the window has been replaced or possibly the door was hit? does the other side look like it matches?

Both of these pieces have been treated with gummi pflege. And both sides are the same. One is shinier than the other.
I take it your cars have the same sheen on both pieces?

I will take a look, I hit mine with 303 quite often, but it does not seem to last very long. I can't say what might cause that sheen other than one trim being added at a different time or a change of material.
If it makes you feel better I have what looks like three small dots on the black plastic near the windshield wipers that seems etched into the plastic, it's a detailers nightmare, since it's the first thing I notice after washing.
