Default 2007 911 GPS problems

I have recently purchased a 2007 911 and it has factory GPS. For some reason the system is not reading the GPS disk. The unit acts like it staring, but then after about 5 minutes it tells me to insert the GPS disk or it says it cannot read the disk. I have tried removing and reinserting the disk with no luck. Does anyone know is this a common problem. The car is in extremely good condition and only has 10,200 miles on it. Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Use Google maps on your smartphone and forget about the one in the car.

Do you know if the windshield is originsl? Sometimes lesser skilled installers bugger up things inside the cowl area where the GPS antenna is positioned.

Try and find someone else with a similar year car and ask to borrow their disk. See if it takes it. If so, your disk is faulty. As the disk stays in the unit all the time it shouldn't have handling flaws. Just burn a copy.
