Default 997.2 C2S Price check

Hello,

I have been wanting to get a 997.2 S for a while now.

I found a 2009 997.2 carrera s cabrio with 80k miles, manual transmission that a friend of mine is selling.

Carfax reports 1 accident but nothing major.

Original msrp was 114k.

If PPI checks out ok, what would be a fair price for it?

Miles do not scare me. I plan to drive it occasionally.

Your input is, as always, much appreciated.

The attached table shows what I was seeing for higher mileage 2009 C2S coupes in late 2016. I'm guessing (but don't specifically know) that Cabs would have a similar trend as coupes.

If that's the case, then in late 2016 you'd see asking prices in the range of 35-40% of MSRP. I would expect actual transaction prices to be (on average) a bit lower than that.

I don't know how much the market has changed since then, but your friend will find the market soften a smidge as we get closer to winter.

Karl.

While I agree that miles shouldn't scare you, 997s do tend to drop in price with higher miles. I would guess a 80k mile 2009 S in the $38-$42k range private party.

Good question! Seems like these cars depreciate approximately $2500 miles for every 10k driven. Private party on a clean 10,000 mile C2S coupe right now is mid to high 50's. so $40,000 if it had no accident, maybe $35k with the carfax blem?

It all depends on the maintenance history. 80k miles is nothing for a 997, as long as it has been maintained and driven often (obviously the 2nd half of that is true). I would be more worried if it only had 5,000 miles than 80,000. It is good that you know the seller and can judge accordingly!

I feel that if I could get it at 35k it would be a steal, no?

997.2 prices have been creeping up a lot in recent months.

114k msrp, highly optioned cab.

let's see how much he wants for it.

Yes, $35k would be a great deal for you even with the 80k miles.
