Default Key working intermittently...

Hi, I've been having this problem for couple months where upon insertion either nothing happens or only the wheel unlocks and I have to remove/insert several times before everything activates normally as I turn to 1st then 2nd position. Car is 997.1 base from 2006. Any advice appreciated thanks!

Do both of your keys do the same thing?

Have you replaced the battery in the key(s)?

If yes to both, my bet is the ignition switch.

I only have one working key as the 2nd one needs to be paired at the shop. Yes new batteries on both. Is the ignition switch costly to replace?

The switch is about $200 from Porsche if I recall (bought via Pelican Parts). My Indy charged 30 min labor which was $50, so $250 out the door with me supplying the part.
