Default TPMS issue and replacement

When I start the car I get a flat tire warning and it shows my rear tires at -10. When I go to the TPM screen, it shows all four tires at good pressure. The warning lights stay on, even though it shows good pressure. Is this a sign that my TPMS batteries are about to die?

If I need replacements, are the aftermarket sets on eBay (HUF 433mHz) worth the huge price difference from OEM?

thanks.

Have you tried resetting the sensors using the OBC? Also, set the dash display to show absolute pressure (rather than +10) and use a manual tire pressure gauge to see if the readings are close. If you have a Durametric cable, you can read months remaining on each battery.

I know what you mean, but you asked that backwards. The OEM units are not worth the huge price difference. Aftermarket units from HUF or BERU will work fine. OEWheels is a popular supplier of these.

Mine acted in a similar manner after a recent oil/service reset. Reset the TPMS from the column lever several times over a 5 day period. It finally corrected itself. No confidence in this system though.

Hi, try checking under TPM > Load, and check if it is at Full Load. If so, it expects 40+ pressure. I had a similar problem. Corrected to Partial Load and the warning turns off immediately. Mine is set to 33F/37R.

every tire shop has meter that reads sensor strength, just walk around the car and read if they are bad or good

My Icarsoft Por II indicates 79 months battery life remaining on all 4 so I ruled out battery issues. Installed brand new 4 months ago.

Partial vs full load setting is worth looking at. Also heard shuffling between the two might help. I was minutes from coding off the whole thing when mine started working again. It new I was getting ready to drop kick and decided to behave...

I agree with Crunch Time- I had a similar readout- corrected to partial load and voila! Everything works great.

I DID replace the Sensors with the OE ones- they work perfect- but check your year and model for the right frequency- my 997.1 uses the 433mhz band I believe.
