Nowadays you have to move quick, get a ppi, do the diligence, go fly to see the car at a moments notice.

That is what it takes to score the best examples.
Totally agree but not just lower mile examples. I was offered $5k more than I paid for mine by someone at my indy shop and I've put 17k miles on the car (up to 131k) in the last two years.

Sounds pretty golden to me.

Now is it. The porsche investment bubble is just that... a bubble. The 996 turbo, like all sports cars that are ~15yrs old, go through a "cheap and heavily modded" phase in life right around this age. This is when prices are cheap and the aftermarket is plentiful. Enjoy it, in 5-10yrs they will be old enough to be left mostly stock and harder to get parts for

It's sometimes said that these cars are not going to be "collectible" because they were made in higher numbers that the now-collectible ones. I was thinking that for us who just want to drive them and don't care what the market is, this might translate into future improved parts availability. Well, we can be hopeful!

Definitely. I don't want to feel guilty about driving her, anyway.

There are a lot more people around now than when they made those "rare" cars also...

Who cares, we get to drive them and enjoy them. Mine gets driven, has chips on the nose and races around our track area with all my friends. Now that is total appreciation.
