Default Fake GT3 Seats

Just a PSA that there are a lot of fakes/tributes/replicas/look-a-likes GT3 euro seats out there. Sometimes the seller may not even know what they have is not genuine, as was my case.

I bought what I was told was a set of original Porsche seats only to later find out that they were not genuine. I paid $2k cash on CL and was "lucky" that the seller bought them back from me for $1500.

These were darn good fakes

This thread helped me ID them as fakes.

That sucks! Very generous of the seller to buy them back with you taking a $500 loss.
Those do seem to be very convincing counterfeits though.

lol bought them back, he should have refunded in full. If they are fake and you could prove it then he sold you something not as advertised. What main parts flagged them for yours? Those looks like great reps if the case.

My options were basically take a $500 loss or try and cyber hunt to get the guys full name and address and begin the months long process of small claims.

The signs these were fake were
  1. Missing recaro logo
  2. seatbelt passthrough was plastic on both sides instead of plastic on the outside and leather on the inside
  3. screws on the bolster pass through were philips and not torx
  4. "ORSCHE" crest instead of "PORSCHE" crest
  5. missing Porsche part number sticker on bucket

Dead give away is the inner belt hole. Oem doesn't have the hole cover on each side.

Looks like he's re-listed them on eBay, still claiming they are Porsche seats.

You should send eBay a message about this, or click the "report" link.
Do you have documented communication with seller verifying they are not real Porsche seats?
The seller re-posting them as such should be cause for them getting banned IMO.

Would be nice if there was a reliable maker of knock offs. The OEM prices are ridiculous.

I just posted a question to the seller:
Are these genuine Porsche seats or replicas?

I wonder if I'll get an answer?

He didn't post a picture of the "Orsche" crest. Flag for most that there are no picks of the Porsche crest or Recaro logo (since OP said it's not there) because every add I have scene for these, the seller makes sure to prominently display those. Also if I remember correctly they have Porsche part numbers starting with 996.

He is pulling the ad based on a pleasant message I received from the seller.
