Brantley that is the non turbo clutch. Here are the all of the regular TT clutches they carry. Judging by the pictures the AMS brand also appears to be repackaged Sachs parts as well. The GT2 type clutch I linked to in my post above will work with your car and is the most affordable option on RA.

It was not a customer return. It was vac sealed and in a brand new opened box
It would be interesting to measure the thickness of the disc and compare it with an OE unit and with another aftermarket Sachs disc or even just weigh it with a gram scale. At one time there was a few mm difference between the OE discs purchased directly from Porsche and what you could find in the aftermarket with the same Sachs part number. |
That is not corrosion it is adhesive/paper from the packaging paper between the clutch and pressure disk. These are brand new. There is no way all the vendors I've mentioned including RA have a bunch of customer returns to sell at this price or slightly higher. My guess is that since LUK only markets this clutch as a 2005 only is that they have a large supply and little demand. If you want to spend the extra cash on a Sachs box go for it. This one came with the same warranty as well. Luk is a well known vendor.
Bottom line is I'm pretty happy to have scored this clutch and a fly wheel for less then what some are asking for a standard turbo clutch kit alone. Hopefully if helps out some fellow thrifty Renlissters. :biggulp: |

How do you get a 10% discount and free shipping? Thanks! |
That's the one. Here are some 5% off codes. Once you are a customer the send you 10% off coupons periodically. I looked at my invoice and I did pay $12 shipping.

Just an update. I had a local Indy install this clutch and flywheel Thursday and it's working perfectly. Identical to the poached parts that came out. Labor cost was $800+950 in parts. Not to bad considering most "Porsche" shops were looking to charge $2000+ in parts. |
Great deal! Thanks for confirming it all worked out...

a good tech can r&r the clutch easily in 6 hours start to finish. even including eating lunch and messing with re-inserting the clutch fork  upon re-install. |
Thanks for sharing. The website said they only have 3 left so I went ahead and secured mine. Now I just need my clutch to wear out or to purchase a tune so I have a reason install it.

I have attached a lot of pictures. Per the OP, I did pay $442 after finding a 5% promo code. I'll let you guys be the judge. I think the clutch disk might have a new surface riveted to an old metal disk. Everything else appears brand new. If it is re-manufactured, then I am still happy to save the $$. I don't know if I can agree that this is a returned or used disc. If so, it feels brand new to me.

yes, the disc looks remanufactured. How about the pressure plate?

My guess is the Lux listed clutch for my 2002 at $818 is also remanufactured. Thank you Rock Auto for listing the deal under 2005 model and the original poster for sharing.
Here are some of the Pressure Plate. It appears new to me. |
