996tt oil pressure
#17
Oil pressure will naturally be higher with higher viscosity oils. Keep in mind that the accuracy of the OEM oil pressure sensor / gauge leaves a little to be desired. I used to read about 1.8 bar at hot idle with the stock sensor. When I switched to a high end calibrated Motec oil sensor, the actual reading is about 1.5bar at a hot idle. It will even drop to 1.4bar when the oil is 250-260F as at the end of a track session. I run 5w50 M1 by the way. One of the guys with a local hard tracked GT3 would actually see hot idle oil pressures of close to 1.0 bar with 0W40 M1 when coming off track in the summer. This would intermittently trip the oil pressure warning for him. He has switched to 5W50 and that was enough to bump it up a about half a bar or so.

PS. Found a short video on YouTube on your car, video is from June in 2012 so almost 5 years ago.
A quick question about that...the RUF R Turbo from RUF has the air inlets on top, is this something one could do if say heading over to RUF and ask them to build it that way or is it just something they do with their own VIN cars?

They original Rturbo was built by RUF on a narrow body carrera chassis. As such they added the triangular upper inlets. I think I you requested a wide body chassis, it would have the traditional intake.
