Default PSM/ABS and Oil level sender failure need help

Friends car. 2003 996tt with over 100k miles. Has ABS/PSM light on cluster, codes showed implausible signal from front right wheel speed sensor. Replaced sensor still had fault. Read a few other post regarding brake switch causing this issue. Installed new brake switch and still not fixed. Wheel speed sensor is sending a signal. Not sure what else to check.

Second issues is with the oil level sender. We replaced with a new sender from Porsche and cleared codes. After warm up we still get the oil level failure message on the cluster. Any help would be appreciated.

Casey

Have they checked the wheel speed sensor wiring? The sensor may be working but the harness may damaged along the way?

I am hoping that is the issue but car is already at P dealer. Once they diagnose I will finish the job. Ill report back as soon as I get it fixed. Thanks

Have you checked to ensure the battery and alternator are good? I started getting strange warning lights when. Y alternator was on the way out.

Casey, as Carlo pointed out, the ABS wiring loom can chafe where it runs through the body to the front sensors. Plus, a faulty brake fluid level sensor will throw pretty much simultaneous ABS and PSM faults, typically a few seconds after hard cornering sloshes the brake fluid about in the reservoir. Fix for that is replacing the reservoir, as the sensor comes with it.

How long has it had the fault? The upside of ABS and PSM faulting out (particularly PSM) is that the car livens up and is more interesting to drive (hey, if it was good enough for the F40...). So if your friend has learned to drive the car hard with PSM fully disabled through faulting out then he/she may be a bit disappointed with it once fixed. Depending on driving skills perhaps, since PSM can obviously help save some situations for the driver.

P dealer wanted a crazy amount to diag the wiring issues. I am starting the process of checking the wiring loom near the brake fluid reservoir and should have it fixed shortly. Will report back once I figure it out.

Issue resolved. Found a bad connection where the wheel speed sensor wiring comes in to the body. Still trying to remedy the oil level sender issue.

Fixed the oil level sender issue. The connector that plugs into the assembly had a bad pin. easy fix.
