Default Tires

Okay, so I know I bought an aging supercar and all that; and there is no more expensive car than a cheap Porsche, but I was wondering if this would work: I found a set of mounted snow tires on 17" OEM looking rims. Exact size: 205/50/17 and 245/45/17. The guy wants $400 for them. They look to be in good shape. I'm not OK gambling on the health of my car by cheating out. Oh Rennlist-Porsche-gods hear my cry and answer the question I'm sure you are anticipating: would using this wheel tire combo hurt my turbocharged baby?

On a side note, I've had to "reinstall" one recently installed radiator and am in the process (got too cold out to finish project) of reinstalling the other recently replaced radiator because I don't think I seated the hoses correctly and they are leaking slightly. Reinstalling the Passenger side radiator entirely fixed the drip on that brand new radiator, so hopefully it does the same with the Driver's side - not expensive, or particularly terrible to do myself, but when I'm done with the new drip, I'll have installed radiators 4 times total on this car. Not looking for advice about the rads, just venting a little.

Cheers,

17" wheels will not clear the brakes if I am remembering right.. no need to worry about the AWD when they wont fit at all I guess.

Thanks Chris. I knew it was too good to fit. Cheaping out is never the answer! Thank you for reminding me of that.

I believe the spare tire is mounted on a 17" rim, isn't it?

I know you are looking for something cheap, but I do have a set of OZ Alleggerita HLTs with Porsche approved sizing Dunlop SP Wintermax 3D tires (225/40R18 - 265/35R18) sitting in my garage that I have wanted to get rid of since they came with the car. Ive never even mounted them. PM me if it interests you

All,

Having called my local Porsche Dealer (5+ hours away) the information I received is this: the size I quoted earlier may fit my car depending on what brake option my car came with and that the offset shouldn't be any issue at all. He suggested that if I want to be very sure the wheels would fit, that I should measure from the outside edge of my rotor to the outside edge of the caliper and have the seller measure the inside of the rim. The dealer said to make sure that the rim clears by about 2 inches total and I would be in the clear. That said, I've PM'd Mtrboatvr6.

Thanks for the input guys!

Cheers,
